Camping is a highlight of the Cub Scout experience—and one of Pack 42’s favorite traditions! Each fall and spring, our pack heads to Camp Sayre in Milton for a weekend filled with outdoor fun, team-building, and memory-making.
These Friday-to-Sunday overnight trips are designed to be family-friendly and accessible to all experience levels. Whether it's your first time camping or your tenth, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Our camping weekends are packed with activities that help scouts build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy nature. Scouts can expect:
Campfire programs with songs, skits, and s’mores
Nature hikes through the beautiful Blue Hills Reservation
Scout-led games and challenges
Outdoor cooking and shared meals
Free time for exploring, playing, and bonding with friends
Camping is not only fun—it also helps scouts work toward badges and achievements in the outdoor adventure and camping categories.
Packing the right gear can make all the difference! Here’s a general guide to what your family should bring for the weekend:
Tent (or let us know if you need help borrowing one!)
Sleeping bag and sleeping pad or air mattress
Weather-appropriate clothing (layers work best!)
Flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries
Reusable water bottle
Toiletries and any personal items
Bug spray and sunscreen
Camping chair or stool
Mess kit (plate, cup, utensils, etc.) for meals
A full packing list is sent out in advance of each trip, and we’re always available to answer questions.
Located in the heart of the Blue Hills Reservation, Camp Sayre offers an ideal camping environment with easy access to hiking trails, open fields, fire pits, and even a lodge with restrooms and shelter if needed. It’s the perfect location for both beginners and seasoned campers.
